1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of online courses, including the IWBMC™ Foundations Course, offered through Ascend Training Institute, LLC ("Ascend," "we," "us," or "our"), an affiliate of The Jacob's Ladder Group, Inc. ("TJLG"). By purchasing or accessing a course, you agree to these Terms.
2. Course Access
- Course access is granted for one (1) year from the date of purchase.
- Access includes online instructional content, course materials, and any assessment required to earn a Certificate of Completion, as described on the applicable course page.
- Access does not include AHAVA platform licensing, live training, immersion training, or certification exam fees unless separately purchased.
- We reserve the right to extend, modify, or discontinue specific course content, provided such changes do not materially reduce the value of a course already purchased and in an active access period.
3. License and Restrictions
Course content, including videos, written materials, assessments, and the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care® (IWBMC™) methodology, is the copyrighted and trademarked property of TJLG and its affiliates. Purchasing a course grants you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use the content for your own personal or professional development during your access period.
You agree not to:
- Copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, or share course materials, login credentials, or content with any third party
- Use course materials to create a competing product, training, or certification program
- Record, download, or repost video content outside the platform
- Represent completion of a course as equivalent to IWBMC-CP or IWBMC-CE certification unless certification has been separately earned through the National Council for Board Certification (NCBC)
4. Certification Eligibility Disclaimer
Completion of a course may make you eligible to pursue IWBMC™ certification through the NCBC, subject to that program's separate eligibility criteria, application, and examination requirements. Course completion does not guarantee certification, passage of any exam, or any professional outcome.
5. Payment and Refunds
- All fees are due at the time of purchase unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Courses are non-refundable, except as described below.
- Unused purchase: If you have not accessed any course content and, where applicable, return the HTL Workbook in like-new, resalable condition, you may request a full refund within thirty (30) days of purchase.
- Partial refund consideration: If you have started a course and need to withdraw due to a documented life event, or need to pivot to a different course, you may request a partial refund based on your percentage of course completion. Partial refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
- Volume, group, or organizational pricing is governed by a separate agreement where applicable.
6. Educational Purpose Only — Not Medical or Clinical Advice
The content on this site and within Ascend courses is for educational and informational purposes only and is not intended to be professional medical or clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, nor a substitute for such advice from a qualified healthcare provider. Always consult a physician or other qualified healthcare provider regarding any medical or clinical condition. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your doctor or dial 911 immediately.
Use of any information provided through the IWBMC™, TJLG, Ascend, or AHAVA is at your own risk. Use of this content constitutes acknowledgment, release, and waiver of liability for any claims arising from such use, against IWBMC, LLC, The Jacob's Ladder Group, Inc., their affiliates, and their Board members, officers, employees, and volunteers.
7. Intellectual Property
All course materials, the IWBMC™ methodology, and related trademarks (Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care®, Jacob's Ladder®, AHAVA®) are owned by TJLG and its affiliates and protected under U.S. copyright and trademark law. No rights are transferred to you except the limited license described in Section 3.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TJLG, Ascend, and their affiliates, officers, employees, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, a course, including but not limited to loss of professional opportunity, income, or certification eligibility.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
10. Changes to These Terms
